MAE Jag Blast, October 2023

Message from Principal:

Hello MAE Families, We are enjoying a wonderful fall here at MAE. We were so excited to see so many parents and grandparents here for the book fair. We were also thrilled at the amount raised in our Fall Fundraiser! Over $47,000 will be going toward our next playground update!! Our most exciting news is that we were named the highest rated school out of all of the elementary and middle schools in our state. This rating is based on the outstanding scores our students achieved last year on state assessments along with the growth our previous students showed on the assessments they took at Upper. We (the MAE/MAUE family) are #1 thanks to our amazing students, staff, and parents. We appreciate all of your continued support and want to tell you thank you for all you do for your child and for all of the students and staff members here at MAE. Report Cards are coming home October 19. Students must master assessed skills at 80% mastery to receive an M (for mastery) on the report card. Please look through all the assessed skills for this 9 weeks and the skills that will be assessed later this year. Your child's teacher will be setting up conferences soon, but please reach out with any questions concerning your child's progress and what you can do at home to support your child. Finally, I want to ask for your help. October and November are very important months for us. Our funding is determined by the attendance record for these 2 months. Missing any day of school has a negative effect on your student's learning. Missing any day of school in October and November also has a negative effect on the amount of funding we receive for instructional resources and learning materials. Please have your child here each day and on time unless they are ill, have a doctor's appointment, or you have some type of family emergency. Once again, thank you for all you do. Feel free to reach out to us with any questions, concerns, or ideas. It is our responsibility and pleasure to partner with you in your child's education. Sincerely,

Melissa Philley We’re #1!We’re #1!We’re #1!

Keep your eyes open for these upcoming events:

The 2nd grade performance is Friday, Nov 10

8:00 - Allen, Bacon, Arnold and Richardson - doors will open for parents and guests at 7:45

9:15 - Crawford, Henry, McAtee - doors will open for parents and guests at 9:00

The front entry with Mrs. Lynn is small now, so we wanted to make sure all knew that the doors won't open until 15 minutes before the show times.

FYI schedule changes for Kingdom meetings

The one scheduled for Nov. 6 will be held on Nov. 13 and the one scheduled for Dec. 4 will be held on Dec. 11 because Mr. Hawkins will have the gym set up for programs during the dates we originally selected. Each Monday we celebrate our kingdoms by wearing our Kingdom shirts or colors.

Thank you to everyone who purchased a Blue Card! Our Fall Fundraiser brought in $47,000 to help update our playground! We went above and beyond on our goal, so there will be extra surprise incentives to come during October and November.

We are so excited that Phase 2A of our playground will be installed over fall break! This is possible thanks to the PTO, parents, family, local businesses and YOU!
