MAE JAG BLAST-JANUARY 2026

Welcome back from the holiday break and Happy New Year to all. I sincerely hope you and your families enjoyed making memories, having fun, and relaxing during the break. We are excited to have our families back for another great semester of engaging learning experiences. We are already  excitedly preparing for the annual Avenue tradition “Arts on the Avenue”. Mark your calendars for Thursday, April 9, 2026 to join us. Parents will receive report cards and score reports from winter screener assessments in Reading and Math soon. We use this data to analyze where students are currently performing so we can make instructional adjustments to move student achievement forward.

Parents, we need your help with a safety observation during morning arrival of students. At 7:30 a.m. each day, our carpool line ends, and all staff outside on duty receiving students walk into the building. We have noticed some parents allowing students to jump out of the cars running up the sidewalk behind staff entering the building when they are dropped off late for school. This is unsafe for our students as we are responsible for their care and safe entry into the building once they exit your vehicles. For the safety and security of all students, please follow the procedure for signing them in late to school. After 7:30 AM, it is the parent's responsibility to park and walk inside to sign their child in for school because 7:30 is considered tardy.

We are seeing an excessive amount of tardies in the mornings. We need your help ensuring your child arrives to school on time so they don’t miss any of the fun activities planned for the beginning of the school day. Instruction is well underway by 7:40 a.m. each day right after morning announcements. Many students also take AR tests in the mornings and arriving late does not allow them to take time to test and earn the points to make it to AR Celebrations each nine weeks. As always, we appreciate your continued support and trust in us to support and educate your children to the best of our abilities day after day.

In service of staff, students, and community,
